Locally Developed/Workplace Stream

This stream offers courses for students with an Individual Education Plan, who required modifications of Ontario Curriculum.  The focus is on improving literacy, numeracy and organizational skills, through credited courses.  Students are enrolled in a combination of locally developed (grades 9, 10) or workplace (grades 11, 12) courses and open level courses.  This stream is aimed at developing employability skills so that all students can make a smooth transition to the workplace.  Students in this stream can move into the Applied/College level stream, through upgrading opportunities.   Learning support teachers are available for support and are based in the Learning Support Room.

Applied/College and Academic/University Streams

Students who have an Individual Education Plan (with Accommodations) and are taking courses at the Applied/College or Academic/University Level can also access learning support from the LSST and Special Education Department Head.  Students can be accommodated within the classroom, and receive further support in the Learning Support Area.

Learning Support/Resource Withdrawal

Assistance is available to students who have an Individual Education Plan in the Learning Support Area.  Learning Support Teachers (LSST) are available to provide academic support for quizzes, tests, assignments, and daily work.  Students typically remain in the class for the duration of the lesson and then are released to the Learning Support Room for additional assistance, when necessary.

Learning Support Room

As much as possible modifications and accommodations are provided by the classroom teacher.  If a student requires additional modifications/accommodations beyond what the classroom teacher can provide, assistance is available in the Learning Support Area.

The Learning Support room can be accessed across from the Attendance Office.  Support will be provided by the Department Head, Mrs. DiPasquale and LSST (Learning Support teacher) Mr. Parent.  Students can access support for seatwork, assignments, quizzes, tests and exams.

As well, they can contact Mr. Parent (keith_parent@wecdsb.on.ca) and Mrs. DiPasquale (marianne_dipasquale@wecdsb.on.ca) via email.
